Installing PHP tools as phars instead of classic dependencies has several benefits:
- speed (& size) - downloading a single phar file is a lot faster than installing the tool's dependencies individually (usually thousands of files)
- less conflicts - the phars already contain all of their dependencies so there is a lesser chance of a conflict with other tool's or your project's dependencies
How does it work?
PharHub maintains a database of packages. Their versions are updated daily from the project's GitHub releases or official website.
Where are the phars stored?
The phars are not stored or modified in any way. Download requests are directed to the released files on GitHub or to files on the project's official website. HTTPS URLs are required.
